Happy Birthday Auntie Katy

31 May 2008 In: Uncategorized

Ally and fountainAlly and HaiderToday we zoomed up to see Katy in Newcastle to help her celebrate her birthday. On arrival we had bacon butties while Ally had his lunch - the poor wee lad was starving as it was nearly 1pm! We then popped round to see friends Shaf, Ased and Haider and had a lovely time watching the two lads play together. Ally was very impressed with Haider’s toys particularly his balloons, swing and slide. It was a glorious day so we ended up outside in the sunshine while the two boys enjoyed the ball pool, tents and tunnel. We got back to Auntie Katy’s to discover the house over run with children, Ally found it all a bit too much and was a bit grumpy but then after his dinner he perked up and got very wet playing with the water feature in fact a better term would be dismantling! Finally after some more cuddles from friends of Katy’s and Grandad we left!

Birthday - part 2!

allybirthday-092.JPGallybirthday-143.JPGFor part 2 of Alistairs birthday we had bot sets of grandparents, Hannah & ’sort of uncle’ Neil and Uncle Oliver round on Saturday for more festivities. Alistair was on great for and saved any grumpiness for when everyone had left, and just had a great time being the centre of attention.

Loads more presents for Ally was the order of the day, and lots of food and drink for eveyone else. Ally now has more toys than Toys’r'us (though as usual he enjoyed the wrapping paper and empty envelopes more than anything else) and particularly enjoys the post box his uncle Oli bought for him, and the dolls house (for want of a better term) from Granny & allybirthday-157.JPGGrandpa Kerr. Everyone had great fun helping Ally try out his new toys, and the adults managed to get through 4 or 5 bottles of Champers! Aunty Hannah must have taken about 5 thousand pictures of the star of the day, ‘m sure he’ll have to be famous when he grows up or he’ll think its weird that he doesn’t constantly get his photograph taken he’s so used to it now.

We also bought him his first trike which he loves, but only in short spells as it seems to send him to sleep if he stays in too long! We all took a trip to the park (Ally on his trike) and the boy had go on the swings which he’s liking more and more each time. Then everone was off, leaving the Kerrs with a fridge full of goodies to finish off, and Alistair with a living room full of new toys to chew on, bash and generally throw around!

allybirthday-047.JPGWhat a birthday it was - we had some great weather over the weekend, so had some people over for the first of Ally’s birthday parties and had a BBQ. Alistair had a great time playing in the garden in his new tent / ballpool and paddling pool, which wiped him out and he slept for most of the afternoon after that.
allybirthday-030.JPGThe actual birthday was a more eventful day - involving an ambulance trip from nursery to A&E after a choking episode and some very worried nursery staff and parents!! In the end dad made it to the hospital before the ambulance to see Alistair brought in fast asleep in the paramedics arms! After a quick checkup and he was given the all clear, and it was put down to ‘one of those things’. We took Ally out for dinner to a pub with a nice big play area, and you guessed it, Ally slept all the way through! He’s got all his Grandparents visiting this coming weekend, and even 2 Great Grandparents - lets hope for a less exciting time!

A lovely day!

I finally got a long lie which was great. Next we had people round for lunch and Grandma had put on quite a spread. The food was lovely and the company good fun. Everyone admired Ally who was as usual being entertaining. Following lunch we had to go as needed to get back for our pooches. It took a while to load the car but we managed eventually and made it back in good time. All in a lovely break away.

Happy Birthday Mum!

london-march08-208.JPGlondon-march08-204.JPGMy 30th had finally arrived unfortunately I didn’t get a lie in as Ally wanted to get up around 6am. Despite this we had a nice morning and eventually all of us got out the house to the Museum of Childhood which was great. The exhibits were everything from antique dolls houses to computer games. All of us enjoyed it, Ally got a ride on a rocking horse and to play in the baby bit. After this we had lunch in the museum which was surprisingly good food. Following on from this we went to Covent Garden for a bit of wander before making it back to the house to set off for Grandma’s. We got to Grandma’s and from there left Ally to go out for a meal at the pub. A lovely surprise was the bottle of Champagne ordered by Grandma and the fact she’d paid for the meal. We got back to Ally fast asleep on Grandma.

Tourists!

london-march08-142.JPGToday we were proper tourists we got on a bus to Trafalgar Square where we had breakfast! Next we headed to the British Museum, followed by Oxford Street, Speaker’s Corner, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards Parade and then the Houses of Parliament. I did manage to see two Horse Guards despite Graeme insisting they didn’t exist. Ally was mostly on good form except for wanting to be out and crawling which is kind of tough when it’s wet. We went back to Hannah and Neils via the Imperial War Museum where Ally had his tea and got to crawl around while we looked at the exhibits. Dinner was again delicious and the company was good. Ally was a delight and after performing for Hannah’s guests was kind enough to sleep through dinner.

The Eye

Ally and mum on the eyeOn Thursday it was off to London to stay with Auntie Hannah and Uncle Neil. We drove down with directions despite which we still managed to get lost. We finally arrived midafternoon and after collecting the car parking permits from Tony’s Fruit and Veg shop we set off to find a bus. We succesfully made it to an area near the London Eye but still took forever to find the great big ferris wheel. Once there though it was worth it - priority boarding due to Ally - and the views were amazing. Took lots of photos and all in all enjoyed the ‘flight’. After this we had a wander beside the Thames taking photos of various important buildings before catching a bus back to Hannah’s for dinner. Dinner was lovely despite being lamb!

Chatsworth

Granny and Grandpa Kerr arrived yesterday for a visit. Ally despite still recovering from croup was on good form and kept them entertained with smiles and cuddles. He slept a lot better last night which was just as well as I was beginning to feel pretty awful after so little sleep for so many nights. This morning it was great to be able to get up and hand Ally over to Granny while I got to go back to bed for a little lie in. We were all still up and dressed ready for the day by 9am! We set off for Chatsworth and got there for 11 by which time there was a long queue so instead we went for an early lunch of soup and cake. Ally was clearly feeling lots better as he polished off lots of food and was then good enough to sit quietly while we ate ours. After a trip round the shops we made our way back to the house which was fabulous. Lots of incredibly ornate rooms with fantastic pieces of art. Ally was on my back in his carrier and kept leaning back to stare at the ceilings in most of the rooms these were covered in either pictures or beautifully carved. Eventually it all got a bit too much and he went to sleep. Following the house despite the cold we had a wander up the water feature and Dad even managed to wander into the water feature - intentionally I might add - I’m sure we’ll return with Ally and wellies at some point. Then it began to snow so we headed back to the car. The weather got worse and it was properly snowing when we got home. We had a take out for dinner which was delicious and finished off the evening by watching a film.

Wentworth Garden Centre

Ally and I went out for the afternoon to give Dad a chance to catch up with some work.  After a trip round the craft shops which was short and sweet we visited the farmyard where there were plenty of animals. Ally got to stroke a goat while I got to feed several. I’m sure in a year or two this place will be a favourite afternoon out as there are little ride on tractors, some soft play areas and an enclosure where you can cuddle rabbits! After the farmyard I put Ally on a swing which he seemed to enjoy. After a trip to the pet shop to get the dogs a few treats we went home.
