The life and times of Alistair Kerr
Well we’ve been having interesting times! Someone has been hacking the site, so we lost
some of the posts and pictures for a while - everything is all fixed now, and all upgraded to make things a bit harder for any hackers out there. We’ve even put a bit of a Christmassy slant on things too for the festive season!
Look out for some updates coming soon - but as a quick summary, we seem to have finally broken the back of the sleeping problems at last, which is a major boost to mum and dad to say the least! Ally’s vocabulary has now extended to ‘moo’ and ‘quack’ amongst other random words, we get goodbye kisses now and again and he’s had his first haircut. More about all this soon - I bet you cant wait!
Mum and dad have been very slack and not updated the site in a while - apologies all. I’ll try to give an update and some pictures / vids soon.
A quick summary - he’s become completely obsessed with balls and playing football. He’s already better than his dad, though some would say that isnt such a great feat!
Until a few days ago he has been sleeping great - but this week seems to have regressed and just plain refuses to sleep, be put down or stop screaming! This is great fun for mum and dad who have also not slept for a few nights as a result!
Ally has literally come on leaps and bounds with his walking, and its now hard to keep up with him - he knows lots of words even if we cant always make them out!
It has finally happened! The moment mum and dadwere beginning to suspectwould never come has finally arrived. I had to pinch myself this morning to make sure I wasn’t still dreaming.
Alistair slept through the night!!! 8pm until 8am!
This may seem like a minor point to some, but it really did seem like it was never going to happen. Well done Ally! What was mums take on this momentus occasion? “Oh, did he - I didn’t really notice seeing as its you that gets up to settle him - as far as I knew he’s been sleeping through for weeks”
And no, I dont want to hear stories about your babies that slept through at 6 weeks, and I am aware that a picture of the boy in the boot of my car has no relevance, but it’s the latest one I’ve got!
The pictures from our holiday to the sea-sidehave now been loaded into the Gallery - enjoy!
Alistairs first unaided steps were taken on the 1st August 2008 much to the delight of Mum and Dad - We have a picture of the first actual steps, as well as a video of him a couple of days later. The steps were taken at the wild animal sanctuary in Kent during our holiday - he had a go earlier in our cottage with Grandma, but that was more of a graceful fall rather than the definate steps he took towards mum.
Well done Ally!
The Kerr family headed down to Kent to Lydd, to spend a week in Mum’s Aunt & Uncle’s cottage. A great big thanks to them for letting us stay there, even though Dad cracked his head several times on all the low doorways, though i’m told it cant have done much damage to a skull as thick as mine!
We spent a day at the beach in Dymchurch where Dad got burnt, climbed the old lighthouse in Dungeness where Dad got vertigo, visited the site of the battle of Hastings in 1066, where Dad learned that it wasn’t even in Hastings, and went to Dover castle and saw the ’secret’ WW2 tunnels (so secret they had a guided tour). We also visited a few old churches and places relatives/ancestors of Mum were born, lived and died to give some frame of reference to her geneaology.
The Jones family joined us for some of the holiday, which enabled Mum and Dad to go out for a couple of evenings. We went to the most expensive cinema in the world, and had a meal in the village pub. The weather was great for the whole week - it was just like a proper summer! Photos will be added to the gallery soon.
Yes, thats right - in his cot! Miracle of all miracles!
Ok - its only the second night, but so far so good. Ally went down in his cot without too much of a fight on Sunday night and only woke a handful of times but was settled quite easily. This was a delightin contrast to the screaming ab-dabs we had over the past few nights before deciding he’s getting up at 4am.
Tonight he went down at 7.30 - and so far (just gone 10pm) we haven’t heard a peep. That might not seem like much, but to mum and dad its practically a holiday!
If Ally keeps this up I my even forget all the bad times by the time he’s a teenager and not feel the need to wake him up at 6am every weekend - maybe…….
Ally today took his first few steps today - albeit holding on to his brick trolley, but it wont be long now! And we even caught the moment on video, posted below…
This weekend we had a flying visit to Glasgow to help granny celebrate her birthday. The Kerr’s had laid on a lavish bash which was a Hollywood themed fancy dress party. We had a ‘big tent’ (the in joke was that no-one knew how to spell marquee) in the garden, which was replaced with a better one once it blew away.
We arrived on Friday night and soon after Ally fell out of bed, landing square on his nose. So for the rest of he weekend he pulled off a quite convincing Rudolf the red nosed Reindeer impression. Alistair was a bit overwhelmed by all the costumes on the night of the party but soon got into the swing of things which he demonstrated by sleeping through festivities!
Everyone seemed to have a great time, from Superman to Indiana Jones, Richard Gere to Carmen Miranda and even a couple of Charlie Chaplins. Ally dressed as Spiderman, Mum went a struggling actress (Waitress) and I was King Kong at the Oscars - which is basically a gorilla suit with shirt and bow tie. We had ‘Oscars’ presented for various categories such as Best Costume, Best Bling, and Best Dancer. I got 3rd place for Best Drunk. Must Try Harder!
I’ve loaded a few pictures from the party in the gallery - more to follow soon when Grandpa sends me some more pics.. buy cialisbuy cialisbuy levitrabuy levitrabuy propeciabuy propeciabuy somabuy somabuy levitrabuy cialisbuy propeciabuy levitrabuy somabuy cialisbuy propeciabuy levitrabuy somabuy cialisbuy levitrabuy propeciabuy soma
Ally did well this year - he managed to sneak out and buy me an apron, an ‘ice’ tankard and some sweets - as well as a lovely picture for my wallet. This is all pretty good going, im sure you’ll agree, for a kid who cant quite walk yet, and has a vocabulary of ‘woof woof’ , ‘oh ohh’ and ‘beep beep’.
Alistair obviously wanted to make the most of the day, as he woke me up at 6.30am and demanded I take him downstairs to play with his toys with him, a worryingly common thing for a Sunday (which is usually dads day to get up early - i’m sure his mum is training him while I’m not looking) At least the boy is easily amused, so I cant say its much of a chore.
