Mum gets another year older…

30 Mar 2009 In: Uncategorized

The end of march brings around Mums birthday - as usual Alistair was extremely generous with the gifts and lavished mountains of chocolate on mum, and a card with a badge that she refused to wear on it.
For the birthday treat we went to a local farm that was lambing at the time, so Vicky could get to hold and feed a wee baby sheep (I’m led to believe they’re called lambs) under the pretense of it being all in aid of Alistairs education!

Ganny and Grandpa visit

28 Feb 2009 In: General, Uncategorized

The Kerrs (seniors) came to visit this weekend and soak up as much ‘face time with Ally as possible! Ally himself had a great time playing football with Grampa for hours until they were both knackered out, alongside trips to Bolsover Castle and Wentworth garden centre and animal farm. Some pics added to the Gallery.

What’s going on at nursery?

11 Feb 2009 In: General, Uncategorized

13012009005Every day that Ally goes to nursery we get a ‘daily report’ to fill us in on what he’s been doing. Usually things like ‘Alistair enjoyed playing with the balls, reading his books and singing’. This is todays report…
“Alistair went outside with Aiden in the big boys playground and had lots of fun playing in the snow. He dressed up as Leopard dancing to music, then doing lots of twirls while dressed up in a skirt”
Now I know i’m famous for drsssing the boy up in odd, ill matching clothes - but surely I didnt put him in a skirt!

Alistair got his first experience of proper snow today. This caused the nursery to close so dad had to take a snow day too to collect Ally. Dad used this opportunity to demostrate his superior snowman building skills and build Ally his first snowman too.
After lunch mum came home too because school got closed, so we built yet another snowman (Dad was showing off by this point) and generally just messed about in the snow! Here’s hoping it carries on so we can go get a sledge tomorrow!

Busy weekend

Hes the daddy

Everything in Alistair’s world at the moment is a ‘birdy’, or a ‘Dougal’. Floyd hasn’t made her way into his vocabulary yet - possibly because mum and dad shout at Dougal more than Floyd.
This weekend we’ve been down to meet mum’s friends where Alistair got to steal toys from Charlotte and Imogen, who were just too wee to defend themselves! Then off for a walk in the woods which we think brought on a case of Croup - hopefully it will pass soon as it sounds like we have a barking sea-lion in Allys room at the moment. Carpet shopping was Sunday’s fun event - this probably was more fun for Ally than dad, as it meant big shops in which to run wild and kick his football around, while being chased by dad. Then we had a trip to a play zone (or whatever its called) which is basically a massive room with lots of areas to run around in, all padded up so you cant hurt yourself - and mum and dad can get ripped off with a dodgy lunch.
Still trying to work out the new camera phone - the links below should take you to some new videos if I’ve figured it out!

Coming soon…

19 Jan 2009 In: General, Uncategorized

Hello all, we’ll be trying out some new themes over the next few weeks. I also have some new pics and vids to load up (like the one below of Ally ‘reading’ to himself after his bath - more to follow!).

I have a swanky new Nokia N96 phone that I swapped for a load of useless rubbish in the garage - it takes good pictures and videos, but unfortunately its just a bit too swanky and I cant figure out how to get them from my phone to the computer! This is one of the first signs of getting old surely when you can no longer work out technology!

Christmas - the main event!

Christmas at the Harrisons

We arrived in East Kilbride on Christmas eve just in time for dinner and a quiet night in. Everyone was up bright and early on Christmas morning (normal for Ally, not so normal for everyone else!) to open our presents. Alistair now had a whole array of annoyingly noisey toys which he loves, mum and dad aren’t showing quite so much enthusiasm!

At lunchtime(ish) we headed to Bishopton - Alistair was on good form entertaining everyone, and being entertained by his dads cousins. We had a staged dinner where we had one course then one round of presents which worked quite well and allowed everyone to stuff their faces all night long. After dinner Ally went to bed and the adults

had a game of Articulate. Mum and dad noticed that both in England and Scotland, both sets of grandparents are just plain rubbish at this game. Alistair was a star and slept really well.

On boxing day we had the Kerrs over for dinner - Ally was getting a bit overwhelmed by all the new faces by this point, and apart from a game of football with his great uncle David spent most of the night clinging to mum and generally moaning everytime she left the room.

All in all it was a very successful Crimbo that everyone seemed to enjoy - Ally even slept all the way home he was so tired out! Thanks to everyone who put us up and fed us over the last week or so!

Christmas Stage 2 - Done!

Newcastle Christmas

Newcastle Christmas

The Newcastle leg of the Kerr Christmas tour has now finished - we had a lovely meal of steak and chips, followed by much wine and a game of ‘Articulate’. Katy’s team cheated to win. Both Ally and mum were suffering a bit with sore eyes as they had picked up an infection somewhere - but Alistair was a real star and only moaned a bit in the car on the way there (ok, quite a lot) and slept like, well, a baby!
On Christmas eve we left Newcastle and got on the road to Glasgow, and arrived without incident - bring on the main event!

Christmas Stage 1 - Done!

Crimbo stage 1

Crimbo stage 1

The Jones family (and Neil) visited en mass on Sunday for an early Christmas. We had a big dinner, crackers, hats - the lot. It all went swimmingly - Ally even got into opening some of his presents - as you will see from the new pics he particularly enjoys the basketball net. Its meant to be for ages 3 and up, so I think this clearly means Alistair is some kind of genius as he’s already slam dunking everything that fits through the hoop! Other gifts include a drum and xylophone, which are also proving annoyingly popular. Thanks for that Aunties!
Roll on Stage 2 in Newcastle - then Stage 3 in Glasgow!

Preparing for Crimbo

20 Dec 2008 In: Events, Uncategorized

Ally and the treeWe have the Jones visiting tomorrow for stage one of Christmas 2008. Today has mostly been shopping, cleaning and cooking - which was fun for Dad after his Christmas do last night.
Alistair has been doing well, his sleeping is much improved so we hope he keeps it up. He is still obsessed with football, and doesnt even need a ball these days - I found him kicking an orange up and down the hall today, and even Floyd and Dougal make a quick exit when they see him coming for fear of getting kicked in the head!

His latest trick is pointing out his eyes, ears, nose and mouth - and checking everyone elses too, which results in a lot of eye poking. Ally has also worked out that the advent calendar is actually just a chocolate dispenser, and spends much of his waking hours staring and pointing at it hoping someone will lift him up to it. I wonder who he gets his taste for chocolate from……..

No new hacking attempts, so I’ll try to make more regular updates and have already added some more pics to the gallery - and in other geek related news, this site ranks No.1 on google when searching for ‘Alistair Kerr’ - which im sure must slightly annoy the photographer, olympic athlete, counciller and writer who share the name! But if any of them are reading I do have very reasonable rates!! ;-)

Welcome!
